I GOT SOBER IN 2009.
I did it by the book. Meetings, sponsors, white-knuckling my way through every damn day.
From the outside? I looked like I had it all together.
But inside, I was gasping for air.
Eventually, I drank again. I relapsed.
The shame was unbearable, especially after five years sober.
For two years, I spiraled . The more I tried to stop, the deeper I sank.
It wasn’t that I didn’t want sobriety badly enough—I did. But I was trying to force it with tools that no longer worked.
In 2016, I burned it all down. I started over, not with more discipline, but with truth. I found a new sobriety.
This new sobriety? It's not just about quitting drinking.
My new sobriety was about giving myself permission to drop the shame, and to finally come home to myself. This sobriety was not a punishment. It was the doorway to the best version of me.
In 2017 I became a life and recovery coach and created My Badass Recovery—a platform built from the wreckage, for people who don’t do “textbook” healing.
